CAF : Kaizer Chiefs last chance of glory is CAF CL
Kaizer Chief last hope of any cup glory lays in the CAF Champions League but Asec Mimosas is standing in their way
Kaizer Chiefs will face ASEC Mimosas in the second round of their Caf Champions League campaign both teams have had a bad patch in their local leagues.
Asec Mimosas the Côte d’Ivoire’s side landed at OR Tambo International Airport on Wednesday.
Asec Mimosas arrived three days before match day just in time to watch Platinum Stars beat Kaizer Chiefs in the league 2 -0.
Chiefs breezed past Volcan de Moroni with a 7-0 aggregate win in the preliminary round of the tournament. Kaizer Chiefs won the first leg 4 – 0 and the second leg was cleared a walk over after Volcan failed to arrive even after the game was moved from Saturday to Sunday 14:00 before being moved to 19:30.
On the other hand, Mimosas saw off AS Cotontchad of Chad with a 1-0 victory in their first assignment in the continental event, a win away and a draw at home.
Kaizer Chiefs has lost two games in a row, losing 2 – 0 to Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars in the Nedbank Cup and League respectively.
Mimosas are tenth on their local league, they have scored and conceded 5 goals and have accumulated nine points thus far.
The last time Mimosas won was against Ascot was the 14 of February 2016, since then they have only scored one goal. Although they have struggled to score goals they don’t concede easily.
Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping that Yeye will be available after missing the Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars game respectively
