The Algerian outfit ES Setif could face expulsion from CAF Interclub competition, following the behaviour of their supporters
The north African outfit will be sanctioned by Caf for unsporting conduct against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Caf Champions League
Confederation of African Football will sanctioned ES Setif after their supporters threw bottle and cause the game to be put on hold for at least five minutes
Mamemlodi Sundowns were leading the home side 2 – 0 when their fans started throwing missiles on the field.
Other supporters made their way to the field but were escorted by the security personnel
One supporter was hurt and had to be stretched off
The referee was forced to end the game with 2 minutes
Orlando Pirates has experienced the same treatment with their players been subjected to lasers during game time.
According to CAF rules regarding interrupted matches, the Algerian outfit could be eliminated from the competition.”If the referee is forced to stop the match before the end of the regular time because of invasion of the field or aggression against the visiting team, the host team shall be considered loser and shall be eliminated from the competition, without prejudice to the sanctions existing in the regulations,” the rule states.
Confederation of African Football was seen incidents like this a couple of time in every competition.
May 2016 saw CAF fined Etoile du Sahel $5000 for unsporting behavior against.
Etoile du Sahel for use of foul language towards the referee in their Caf Champions League game against Enyimba in the last edition.
Generation Foot were also fined $5000 for throwing missiles into the pitch in the last edition
