BPL : Jose Mourinho’s future hangs in the balance
Chelsea Football Club manager Jose Mourinho’s future at the club has been discussed at board level following Monday night’s 2-1 defeat at Leicester City Football Club.
Chelsea cruised to a third title success under Mourinho last season, after he twice led them to glory during his first stint at the west London club.
However, the Blues have struggled this term and are 16th in the standings after Monday’s loss, just a point clear of the drop zone.
Abramovich has remained staunch in his support of Mourinho so far and he was given the public backing of the board following a loss to Southampton in October.
However, there is no emergency board meeting being held on Wednesday and, after their day off on Tuesday, the players are training ahead of the Premier League visit of Sunderland to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Owner Roman Abramovich has discussed Mourinho’s tenure with the Blues board on a regular basis this season and did so again after the reigning champions suffered their ninth league defeat of the campaign at the King Power Stadium on Monday.
Back in September after the Southampton defeat the board issued a statement backing Mourinho.
At this point its only the board that knows if Mourinho will still be Chelsea’s Manager come the Sunderland game.
