BasketBall : SABC Sport acquires the NBA Africa game 2017 broadcast rights

Johannesburg – SABC Sport is proud to announce that it has secured the broadcast rights for the NBA Africa Game 2017, taking place this Saturday, the 5th of August 2017 at TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg.

The NBA Africa Game pits NBA players of African origin vs. the NBA players from the rest of the world.

Group Executive: SABC Sport, Ms. Sully Motsweni stated: “It is a proud milestone forSABC Sport to be able to bring to our audience this high profile NBA Africa Game 2017, as we continue to align our brand with big global brands like the NBA.”

Ms. Motsweni further stated: “This has been a busy year for SABC Sport and we can safely say we have done good business in the market, after we acquired EFC at the beginning of the year and in the last two months we were able to close deals for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia and also the 2020 & 2014 Olympic Games.”

Dirk Nowitzki from Dallas Mavericks; Kemba Walker from Charlotte Hornets; South African Thabo Sefolosha from Atlanta Hawks and Luol Deng from Los Angeles Lakers will serve as team captains for NBA Africa Game 2017.

Nowitzki, a 13-time NBA All-Star and 2011 NBA Champion, along with Walker, a 2017 NBA All-Star, will co-captain Team World. Deng, a two-time NBA All-Star and Team Africa captain at NBA Africa Game 2015, and Sefolosha an 11-year NBA veteran will lead Team Africa.

The NBA Africa Game 2017 will be broadcast live on SABC 1 and on Radio 2000 this Saturday from 17h00, brought to you by SABC Sport
