ABC Motsepe League Promotion Playoffs in Bloemfontein will always be remembered for been special

The curtain was brought to a close on Sunday at the Dr Petrus Molemela stadium with a game between Limpopo outfit Magesi FC and Kwazulu Natal Kings United.

Magesi FC of Limpopo have won the ABC Motsepe national playoffs final after beating a gutsy Kings United of KwaZulu-Natal 5-3 on penalties after the game, played at a sun-drenched Dr P Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday afternoon, had ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

Both teams went into the game without any of them losing a game.

In the build up to the game King United had conceded nine goals while Magesi FC hadn’t conceded any.

A total of 51 goals were scored in the entire tournament, 49 during the group stages and 2 in the final.

Tornado from Eastern Cape and Morester Jeug from Northern Cape failed to register a win in the entire tournament each managing to score two goals the entire tournament.

Apart from booking a lucrative ticket into the National First Division (NDF) next season, Magesi walked away with a R 1 million cheque winning prize which will give them a solid foundation for the upcoming campaign in the professional ranks.

Kings for their part will also be campaigning in the NFD and collected a cheque for R500 000 for being runners-up.

The top goal scorer was Mmiseni Ndlovu of Kings United with four goals.
